Keeping my hands busy!

I loved this material when I saw it at Joann's. I had to keep my hands and mind busy while I'm on bed rest so I figure sewing is not breaking the rules I'm sitting right???.....No harm done it only took me 45 mins to make them!!! Bailey loves them so much, and with the left over material I made a cute scarf!

Bed rest for now.....

Just a quick update since I'm supposed to me resting.....Dec.4th I started having really bad contractions that would not stop, they kept getting worse and my back pain was off the charts!! So Jason and I headed to the hospital. On the way there things started to settle down, so we debated turning around and heading home....good thing we didn't! When I got all checked in and settled in be, the nurse did the usual routine of questions and slapping those fun monitors on me, she said she as picking up small contractions that I was not feeling, then she checked me to see if I was dialated....she looked at me with wide eyes and said your a 3!!!! Jason and I looked at one another and shook our heads we could not believe this was happening at 31 weeks....The nurse called my doctor and I was admitted immediatly. Still in shock and the pain was coming back again along with more contractions. I was used as a human pin cushion for the rest of the night, all kinds of meds that were not working, so they moved to the big guns....IV meds that made me feel like crap and very very loopy! Plus I had to have Morphine along with the meds, so I was out of it for a few days.....They finaly got the contractions under control. But while I was on all of the drugs I developed a sinus infection, ear infection, and the mother of all a yeast infection....It was so awful, it's been a week and 2 days and my right ear is still plugged...I hate the feeling of not hearing and my own voice echoing in my head! I was in the hospital for 6 days they released me on a Thursday, and I'm only allowed to lay in bed or the couch shower and use the bathroom.....This has been the hardest expericence for me, I'm so used to doing everything myself and them some....plus we are still trying to sell our home...talk about "When it rains it pours"....So for now I'm on bed rest and not allowed to do anything for my kids....I really need to make the ultimate sacrifce for my little on so that he can have a few more weeks of baking! I know I will make through this experience a stronger person!

The Stockings were hung....

I've been making these stockings for our family over the last few years, and have not been able to think of how I want our names on them....I don't want to cross stitch them, so I'm thinking having them embroidered is the only option. I'm looking for ideas before I do it....please let me know if you can think of another fun way to add our names!

I've hit the point of wanting to be done!!!

So by this point in pregnancy I feel so done with expanding and losing my waistline. For some reason this part is the hardest for me to let go of. I try to remain healthy and somewhat in shape. I'm sure my Dr is so sick of me asking "How is my weight gain"???? Does anyone else struggle towards the end with the "wow could I look any bigger"? Don't get me wrong I love being pregnant and the amazing outcome far out weighs your pant size but for some reason I hit a wall in the 7th month. I'm so glad that I have a couple more holidays to keep my mind busy! I'm 30 weeks and can't believe it! I can't wait to meet my little guy! ❤

Recipe -- Chunky Streusel Jam Squares

My friend Britta found this recipe on a package of Nestle Tollhouse Chunk Morsels. Enjoy!!! They're SO good and addicting!!

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups quick or old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup raspberry or strawberry preserves (I used homemade raspberry jam, because that's all I had . . . and 3/4 cup equaled one pint of jam)
1 11.5 oz. pkg. Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet chocolate Chunks
1/4 cup chopped nuts (I omitted this because my hubby's allergic to nuts, I think it tastes fine without them).

-Preheat oven to 375, grease 9-inch square baking pan
-Combine flour, oats, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder and salt into large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until crumbly; reserve 3/4 cup oat mixture for topping. Press remaining oat mixture into prepared baking pan. Spread preserves over crust; sprinkle with chunks.
-Combine reserved oat mixture and nuts; sprinkle over chunks. Pat down lightly.
-Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in pan on wire rack until chocolate is firm, or refrigerate for 30 minutes to speed cooling (I would recommend making sure it cools before cutting . . . personally I think it's insane for them to expect I'll wait 30 minutes, and I cut into them while they were still warm and my piece fell apart. But it was still yummy!!).
-Cut into squares -- makes 25 squares.

Bailey & thumb sucking....

So this is our newest challenge! Since Bailey was 6 weeks old she has sucked her thumb, at first it was great!! She could sooth herself and sleeping was wonderful, no pacifiers to search for or clean and what not.....but now its a major problem! She is 3 and it's really starting to take a toll on her teeth and hair....when children suck their thumbs they often use the other hand to comfort themselves as well. In Baileys case she either rubs her ear or twirls her hair, now I know that dose not sound horrible but when you brush long beautiful curls and hit KNOT after KNOT its sad and frustrating at that same time. I have ripped so much of her hair out because she has it so snarled it's beyond saving!!! it truly makes me sad.... :(

We have tried to make this a "BIG GIRL" change but she could careless about the word "BIG GIRL"....she just dose not want to stop....so we have reached a point where we need intervention and here it is!!!!

All the customer reviews where great so I ordered it and it arrived today! I explained to sweet Bailey that she needed special help to stop sucking her thumb, so she was brave and let me apply the "yucky stuff"! So far she was managed to brush her hand across her mouth and BAM it hit her taste buds, she was gagging, coughing, spitting and anything else she could manage...she then knew it's gross and I want to keep my thumb far away from my mouth! She is now in bed and I hope I don't wake up at 2 am hearing her barfing because it's so gross.....wish me luck! I really hope this will help Bailey with her cute but not so cute thumb sucking!!! I will keep you posted!
